Union Station Hosts Dapper Day LA for a Retro Summer Market
The DAPPER DAY Market returns to Los Angeles on Sunday, July 20, bringing a full day of fashion, culture, and community to the heart of the city. Inside Union Station’s historic 1939 Ticket Concourse, this summer’s edition transforms the space into a pop-up market celebrating personal style, small business creativity, and the layered aesthetics that make LA what it is.
The Dapper Day story started in 2011 with a simple idea of dressing up, going out, and reclaiming public spaces with intention and style. What began as a small group dressing in the style of yesteryear for a day at Disneyland has grown into a multi-city movement. Over the years, the gatherings have expanded to include museums, botanical gardens, and now LA’s famed train station — still held together by the original spirit of nostalgia, whimsy, and self-expression.
From 11AM-6PM, the DAPPER DAY Market features a curated lineup of vendors offering vintage treasures, retro-inspired goods, and handcrafted accessories. Highlights include floral hairpieces from La Casa de Flores, vintage-style cosmetics by Dafna Beauty, retro-inspired handmade accessories from The Starbrite Motel, analog paper goods from Retro Steno, art prints by Copper Top Ink, and stylish frames from Luviano Eyewear. You’ll also find Pomona Yard Vintage’s well-loved fashion, curated gems from vintage boutique Julissa of California, and matching sets for humans and their pups from Toby & Linus.
Early bird admission ($20) starts at 11AM and gets you first pick of all the vendors. General admission ($10) opens at noon, and kids 12 and under are free. Union Station’s central location makes it easy to get there by Metro, train, or bus — no parking nightmares necessary.
Just across the street, Olvera Street offers a chance to slow down and explore LA’s oldest neighborhood, where visitors can wander through landmarks like the Avila Adobe, the city’s oldest standing residence, and the Old Plaza Firehouse, alongside vibrant murals like the America Tropical Interpretive Center. This historic plaza is a living testament to Los Angeles’s Mexican and Spanish colonial roots, bringing together art, architecture, music, and food in a way that honors the city’s diverse cultural heritage while inviting reflection and celebration.
There’s no need to go all out, but it’s encouraged to put together something special for the event. Think tailored suits, vintage dresses, bold accessories, or a favorite piece you’ve been waiting for the right day to wear. It’s not about perfection — it’s about showing up with intention.
DAPPER DAY Market offers more than nostalgia. It invites us to support local creatives, honor personal expression, and engage intentionally with our city. Come dressed like you mean it and shop from people who care about craft — because they really don’t make things like they used to.
