Ice Cream Alley Returns to Smorgasburg LA for a Summer-Long Sundae Funday

Smorgasburg LA is turning up the chill this July with the return of Ice Cream Alley, the city’s favorite frozen-treat takeover. Launching Sunday, July 6, and running every Sunday through August 31, this delicious pop-up experience transforms a section of ROW DTLA into a summer weekend sweets destination for all ages.

Now in its fifth year, Ice Cream Alley brings together a curated lineup of cold treat creators — from soft serve scientists to artisanal helado pros. It’s a vibrant, flavor-packed crawl built to beat the heat and satisfy any sweet tooth.

This year’s featured vendors include:

GUEST POP-UPS

  • 626 HOSPITALITY GROUP — A Smorgasburg favorite five years running. Known for chef-driven soft serve, sparkling ice cream drinks, and affogatos inspired by the flavors of the San Gabriel Valley.

  • MATEO’S ICE CREAM — A neighborhood staple with traditional ice cream and refreshing fruit bars.

  • LEFTY GELATERIA — Gelato with serious cred, crafted by a Michelin-starred chef.

  • PAMPAS HELADOS ARGENTINOS — Artisinal, small-batch, Argentine-style helado.

SMORGASBURG LA RESIDENT VENDORS

  • SAD GIRL CREAMERY — Woman-owned, Latin-inspired creations like ice cream tacos and small-batch flavors that rotate weekly.

  • MOOM MAAM — Thai-influenced gelato with mad scientist flair. This standout from Ice Cream Alley 2023 now holds a full-time residency.

  • BERNIE’S — Serving up real fruit shaved granita crowned with homemade toasted marshmallow. Yes, it’s as dreamy as it sounds.

And of course, the rest of Smorgasburg’s regular vendors will still be on site, serving up their full menus so you can chase your ice cream with something savory (or just keep the sugar rush going).

Smorgasburg LA launched in 2016 as the West Coast sibling to Brooklyn’s original Smorgasburg, a beloved open-air food market that began in 2011. Since then, the LA edition has become a Sunday ritual for locals and visitors alike — showcasing independent chefs, small businesses, and some of the most inventive food in the city.

Ice Cream Alley runs every Sunday from 10AM - 4PM at ROW DTLA with free admission. Stop by to cool off and treat yourself to some of the best frozen delights Los Angeles has to offer this summer. Plus, enjoy live music, fun activities, and plenty more to make your Sunday a full-on summer celebration.
