Kids of Immigrants Marks 9 Years with a Day of Culture, Food, and Love
This Sunday, May 5, Kids of Immigrants (KOI) is throwing a party for the city — and everyone’s invited. LOVE DAY 2025 is happening from 1pm to 7pm at Montecillo De Leo Politi in Elysian Park (Scott Road & Academy Road, Recreation Lodge Drive), and it’s shaping up to be the kind of feel-good, community-first celebration that reminds us why we love this city in the first place.
Coming off the energy of Baryo HiFi the day before — a celebration of Filipino culture and community in Historic Filipinotown — this is the perfect weekend to keep showing up for LA in all its richness and rhythm. These local, back-to-back events are all about momentum, legacy, and joy as resistance.
At its core, this is a celebration to nine years of centering joy, culture, and identity through fashion, storytelling, and radical unity and this year’s lineup is a full-circle moment. The team is bringing out collaborators like Nike, Chase, Oatly, Youth to the People, and MAMA to host a day that’s completely free and totally family-friendly. That means all ages are welcome — just bring your full heart and good energy.
The afternoon will feature a Nike futsal tournament, an exclusive KOI “Built to Last” pop-up powered by Chase Business, and a jersey customization booth for those who want something personal to remember the day. Hungry? The food lineup is curated by MAMA, a community-centered group that always brings flavor and warmth. Thirsty? There’s a hydration station, and OATLY is teaming up with legendary LA photographer Estevan Oriol to host a community cafe that’s worth stopping by just for the vibes.
There’s also an Art & Education Center for folks who want to engage deeper, and a Sun Lounge sponsored by Youth to the People — perfect for resting, recharging, or reflecting on how far this movement has come.
KOI isn’t just celebrating itself — it’s celebrating you. The people who’ve helped build this community with love, consistency, and a commitment to showing up for one another. That’s what makes Love Day so special — it’s rooted in purpose, created by and for the children of immigrants who carry both history and hope in their work, their play, and their presence.
Capacity is limited and this will fill up fast, so text “LOVE DAY” to (323) 310-3062 to get the RSVP link.
